Heat Pump Incentives Now Available in Gustavus!
A short while back the City of Gustavus announced that they’d been awarded a $20,000 grant by the National League of Cities (NLC). These funds are being directed to an incentive program that can help you diversify your heat sources and reduce your carbon footprint.
How it works:
- Purchase a new air-source heat pump to install in your Gustavus home or business.
- Receive a $500 rebate from the City of Gustavus.
- Take Advantage of additional incentives from AP&T and the Federal Government to further reduce the cost of your installation.
The Federal Tax Credits are up to $2000 for qualifying heat pump installations at residences. See the “Energy Property” section for qualifying equipment.
Why switch to a heat pump?
- Save money compared to other electric heaters: Heat pumps are an energy-efficient electric heating option, significantly less expensive than baseboard heaters that use electric resistance to generate heat.
- Reduce your carbon footprint: Heat pumps use electricity, which in Gustavus is generated from hydropower over 90% of the time! Heating with Hydro instead of fuel oil helps reduce your environmental impact.
- Improve your comfort: Well placed heat pumps provide even heating throughout your home, making it more comfortable year-round.
- Built-in Dehumidification: Heat pumps can effectively reduce humidity levels in your home, a valuable feature in humid climates like southeast Alaska!
How to apply:
- The application period is open now until January 20th, 2025. The city is exploring extending the dates through spring.
- Refer to the city’s announcement here for more details.
- Submit your filled application form to the city clerk.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make an upgrade and help the environment.
