After some years in Juneau and Fairbanks, Lillian Ruedrich happily settled full time in the small Southeast Alaska community of Gustavus. She says, “I’ve been taking photos for as long as I can remember. I love to change my perspective by looking through a camera lens, and I find inspiration for my images everywhere; from the smallest details to grand vistas.”
In the last few years Lillian discovered a new way to interpret the natural world around her, through digital editing of her photographs. “I’m totally fascinated with patterns, the composition of visual elements, and using color or capturing a particular light to evoke a feeling of wonder.” After starting the process with her camera, Lillian works with various computer programs, using filters and effects to subtly enhance the image. “So the finished image shows what I see as the underlying energy or magical essence shining through our everyday world.”
