The Rookery is a licensed child care program governed by the Gustavus Children’s Enhancement Program which is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3). Our Child Care Program is open to both residents and visitors, and our Preschool Program is open to residents who enroll for at least a full month during the school year.
If you’re visiting Gustavus/ Glacier Bay with kids (age 0-12) feel free to email us or give us a call to check availability. You can either accompany your child(ren) while they meet new friends and join in an activity, or you can fully enroll your child (during the daytime) while you’re off adventuring.
Summer Child Care:
2019 Summer Schedule (begins May 27, 2019)
Monday – Friday 7:30am – 6pm *Schedule is subject to change, so please contact us for an up-to-date schedule.
Ages: 0-12. Drop-ins are welcome, even for just a couple of hours!
Children accompanied by an adult are free (suggested tax-deductible donation of $50.)
To leave your child for any amount of time, you must provide up-to-date immunization records or a notarized Alaska State Religious Exemption. Children with these records may enroll for $50 for up to 5 hours of care (any more hours will be charged at the regular rate depending on the child’s age.) Call now for availability!
Preschool Program:
Our Preschool Program operates during the school year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9-12. This program is only for children who attend at least a full month during the school year.
Volunteering Positions Available:
Want to volunteer while you’re in Gustavus? We can put you to work whether you just want to help, or if you’ve got some sort of special talent (dance, art, music, woodworking etc.) that you’d like to share with any of the ages we care for! The ages of the children on site varies from day to day, but if you’ve got something fun then we could advertise around town for that age group to attend. Contact us today!
